Braggart

I'd like to take this moment to brag on Alex, the best boyfriend of all time. (I'm working on getting that trademarked, by the way. I could do something obnoxious like, every time I refer to him, I'll write, "Alex, tbboat tm. That won't make him want to poke his eyes out AT ALL.)

Friday, he showed up at work with flowers and lunch. Which is adorable, but I kinda already knew about it, what with the post-Valentine's, let's make up for no delivery during a snow day thing. So he showed up and everyone seemed to go into a tizzy in the front office, like they've never seen a handsome redhead before. I felt a little guilty parading him around like a hunk of meat and so I didn't introduce him to anyone. (Which was a bad idea because I was then barraged with questions after he left. So in order to make my life easer, I'm going to throw him to the wolves on his own next time. Love you baby!) So I basically ran him in and out of the office as quickly as possible, like we were avoiding paparazzi or something. I should have thrown a blanket over his head. Or maybe shaved his head. (Oh, BRITNEY.) But then he told me that he had left his credit card in my car from our previous night's jaunt to the best Italian restaurant ever. So, despite his many protests, I walked him out to my car, where he practically shoved me back towards the building and told me he'd lock the car after he was done hunting for his plastic money. I didn't think anything of this because Alex is one of those people who loses things often. He just has so many genuis thoughts running through his head that he doesn't have the time or energy to worry about things like his wallet or cell phone. Who cares if he left them under the ottoman in the basement? He'll find them eventually!

Fast forward to 4:30-ish when I got off of work. I walked out to my car wishing that I was on a tropical island that had never seen snow before and opened my car door to find a heart-shaped box of chocolates and a teddy bear in the front seat. Yes, he IS that adorable folks.

And yes, he does love Justin Timberlake more than me and is VERY excited about seeing him tomorrow night.

Love and Hearts and Stuff

So today was a bit anti-climatic on the Valentine's Day front. Being snowed in isn't really conducive to getting flowers delivered to your office. Mainly because you aren't at your office and the flowers aren't able to be delivered. So I didn't get the chocolates and roses and stuffed teddy bear like I was wanting, but I did get to take a nap and play on the internet and annoy Alex with lots of random IM's about YouTube clips and the newest Spiderman Potato Head toy.

So tomorrow? Tomorrow is like Valentine's Day the second. We're going out to dinner and I'm wearing my sparkly red sweater that I've only worn twice. Flowers may or may not be involved. And I'm going to wear my pretty new necklace that Alex gave me for Valentine's Day.

Also, so I can brag on Cora for a second, I wanted to let you know that I totally got Alex tickets to the Justin Timberlake concert on Monday. Hooray! We're going to bring sexy back together.

Snowy Valentine's

I woke up this morning groggy and angry that I had to leave the warm bed for the cold snowy outdoors. We have a message system set up at work, where you can call this certain number and a recording will tell you if we have work today or not. I call this number every time we get snow and every time, I am disappointed. I almost didn't call this morning, because even though it has been snowing and sleeting for hours and hours, I figured we still would have to work. But I called it anyway and I am pleased to report that they closed work today.

YIPPEE!!!!!

This is quite possibly the most amazing Valentine's Day ever!

Snow Day!

I am home at 11 am on a Tuesday and I'm not sick. Why? Because I actually got a snow day! Something I've never actually gotten before.

Unfortunately, last night's accumulation of the white death was not enough to keep me from not going to work. So I hauled myself out of bed and past the snowy banks into work this morning. While everyone else's place of employment said, "Stay home. Rest. Don't drive on the dangerous, dangerous roads." My work said, "Come in! But drive safe! And by the way, I bet we'll close at noon, so enjoy that 1 - 2 hour commute for 3 hours of work." Almost 100 people called off, I kid you not. I was one of the faithful few who showed her face. And I was pleased that my face had not been bashed in in a car accident, because had I slid thisclose to two cars through a red light this morning. But I survived. I'm tough, y'all. And then, when the snow turned to sleet, my bosses decided, "Hey! You! Go home! Don't die!"

And now I'm home! Except home = Alex's house. Because he has internet and cable and frozen pizzas. I'm currently eating Junior Mints and sitting under a down blanket/comforter while Parsnip cuddles near me. Right now, life is good. In fact, I'm not sure it could get better.

I love February

Sorta. I actually kinda hate the month of February because it's short. And goodness knows I hate shortness. Because I'm so tall...

Anyway, it is REALLY cold outside and I cried many, many tears on the way home from work because I managed to get stuck in the snow on a hill in between two cars. Thankfully, some really nice guys came out of nowhere and pushed and prodded and guided and yelled me out to safety. Whew. I've never had that much trouble driving in the snow before and I just freaked out. I called Alex in a panic and he was on his way to save the day when the random strangers came to help me out. He's the best, y'all. Especially since I must have given him what I was suffering from two weeks ago and he can't seem to shake it. Sorry, baby.

But I am excited that next week is Valentine's Day. The best holiday of the year! Yippee!
